About the Lab

The Software Evolution Lab (EVOL) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is home to passionate graduate researchers driving innovation in empirical software engineering. Our work centers around building real-world tools and insights to empower developers and improve code quality.

The EVOL Research Group is led by Dr. John Businge, whose mentorship fosters a collaborative and innovative research environment.

Our Research

We focus on designing intelligent code recommendation systems that assist developers in:

  • Searching for relevant code snippets such as bug or vulnerability fixes, refactorings, test cases, and performance optimizations
  • Recommending high-quality, context-aware code snippets
  • Facilitating seamless integration of code snippets into developer environments

While our core interests are in software evolution and code recommendation, we are always open to exploring adjacent areas. If you have a compelling research idea or topic related to software engineering, don’t hesitate to reach out.
